James St Now & Then

Much has changed in James St since the early days.

Land which was left vacant, sometimes for cattle grazing, sometime as open land for children’s play or town activities, has had houses erected there.

Many old houses have been modified and given additions or verandahs.

Other houses, too old to rescue have been demolished, and replace by new, modern homes.

Occasionally block sizes have changed and large blocks have been reduced in size.

There have been units built where once a single house stood.

Shopping facilities and methods have changed quite markedly.

Yet attractive little park areas and several older style houses, still give James Street the feel of a country town.
