MURRAY DISTRICTS HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Located at the Old Schoolmaster's House, Edenvale Heritage Precinct, Pinjarra.
Opening hours from 11am to 3pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Tying the Knot event held in early May received sixty members and visitors, many of whom travelled from regions outside the Murray District and enjoyed the wonderful talk ‘Tying the Knot’ which covered courtship, marriage and wedding dresses in the Swan River Colony. During the period of 'show and tell' there was an opportunity to view dresses, fabrics, petticoats - and photos of early weddings in the Murray. The response to this event was abundant!
Photos displayed at the ‘Tying the Knot’ event can now be seen in a new display room at Edenvale Homestead - at the end of the front verandah.
The Pinjarrah Room at Edenvale was launched on 10th May – now available for public viewing, a permanent exhibition of life in Pinjarra from 1890 - 1960. 20 families with a strong connection to the town were interviewed for stories and memories that have given Pinjarra its personality. A panel series to explain those memories has been added to the walls in the original master bedroom of the beautiful Edenvale. Display cabinets in the Pinjarrah Room include items from the era, loaned by members of the families. The Pinjarrah Room display is open every day from 10 am – 3 pm.
