APRIL

1st to 28th April – Daily from 10 am – 2 pm @ Edenvale Homestead Community Room

Art Exhibition: Stories and Structures: New Connections                FREE

This exciting Exhibition which is touring regional Australia was launched at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney in June 2018.

We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring this exhibition to Pinjarra – only one of two regions to host the art work in Western Australia.  The exhibition is in Kalgoorlie during February and March and will travel to South Australia after being displayed in Pinjarra during April.

Stories and Structures: New Connections is an exhibition exploring the remarkable connection between traditional aboriginal art and the microscopic world.  Twenty one Indigenous artists from various regions of Australia have teamed up with some of Australia’s leading microscopy scientists to explore how images from different traditions pass on knowledge and shape our understanding of the world.  It is hoped that the images will open new conversations and provide opportunities to make new and lasting connections.

National Trust HERITAGE FESTIVAL – Events to be advised

“This year’s festival will bring together an array of events across the nation from

18 April – 19 May 2019. The theme this year is ‘Connecting People, Places and the Past.’

Events across Australia will be held at historic buildings, landmarks, shipwrecks and sacred sites. The festival will bring together communities from all walks of life to recognise and celebrate heritage and culture through ceremony, song and dance, performance art, art in various media and artefacts, talks on books and stories, and guided tours of towns, places and spaces. (More details of events within the Peel Region will be available in next month’s issue.)

The Australian Heritage Festival will bring to life all chapters of Australian culture and history, telling the stories of diverse and distinctive experiences that make up our communities.”
